چکیده

This paper proposes a new distributed control architecture for distributed generation units in heterogeneous DC islanded microgrids. Each unit is equipped with state-feedback baseline and augmenting L1 adaptive voltage controllers at the primary level of the microgrid control hierarchy. Local controller synthesis is scalable as it only requires information about corresponding units, couplings, and at most, the addition of state-predictor measurements of neighbouring controllers. Global asymptotic stability of the microgrid is guaranteed in a plug-and-play fashion by exploiting Lyapunov functions and algebraic Riccati equations. The performance of the proposed architecture is evaluated using a heterogeneous DC islanded microgrid that consists of 6 DC-DC boost converters configured in a radial and meshed topology. The use of L1 adaptive controllers achieves fast and robust microgrid voltage stability in the presence of plug-and-play operations, topology changes and unknown load changes. Finally, the distributed architecture is tested on a bus-connected islanded-microgrid consisting of linear resistive load and non-linear DC motor.

Voltage Control of DC Islanded Microgrids: Scalable Decentralised L1 Adaptive Controllers

Voltage stability is a critical feature of an efficiently operating power distribution system such as a DC islanded microgrid. Large-scale autonomous power systems can be defined by heterogeneous elements, uncertainty and changing conditions. This paper proposes a novel scalable decentralised control scheme at the primary level of the typical hierarchical control architecture of DC islanded mic...

Decentralised L1 Adaptive Primary Controllers and Distributed Consensus-Based Secondary Control for DC Microgrids with Constant-Power Loads

Constant-power loads are notoriously known to destabilise power systems, such as DC microgrids, due to their negative incremental impedance. This paper equips distributed generation units with decentralised L1 adaptive controllers at the primary level of the microgrid control hierarchy. Necessary and sufficient conditions are provided to local controllers for overall microgrid stability when co...

A Distributed Control Architecture for Autonomous Operation of a Hybrid AC/DC Microgrid System

Hybrid AC/DC microgrids facilitate the procedure of DC power connection into the conventional AC power system by developing the distributed generations (DGs) technologies. The conversion processes between AC and DC electrical powers are more convenient by hybrid systems. In this paper, an energy management system (EMS) for a hybrid microgrid network is proposed due to the optimal utilization of...

A Robust Control Strategy for Distributed Generations in Islanded Microgrids

This paper presents a robust control scheme for distributed generations (DGs) in islanded mode operation of a microgrid (MG). In this strategy, assuming a dynamic slack bus with constant voltage magnitude and phase angle, nonlinear equations of the MG are solved in the slack-voltage-oriented synchronous reference frame, and the instantaneous active and reactive power reference for the slack bus...

Integrated Primary Controller Design in AC Microgrids Using Optimal Tracking Control Technique

In this paper, an optimal integrated inner controller is designed for the microgrid primary control level. The main task of the primary control level is to maintain stability and proper power sharing in microgrids. Non-optimal controllers have been generally used to design the inner controller in this level in the majority of researches. On the other hand, accurate and complete models of microg...
